History at the Fabian House

Located in Old Town Bowie, Maryland, the Fabian House has a rich and unique history. This unusual gambrel-roof building was constructed in two stages. The South half was built in 1898 for Simon Joffe to have a general store. The living quarters for him and his wife were upstairs.

As the family grew, the North side was built in the early 1900's as the new residence for the Joffee's. In modern day, the house has been used for Antiques & Collectibles since the mid 1970's. It was finally named the Fabian House after it's present owner Frank Fabian Fladung.

Please come visit us here in Maryland, and enjoy our store, and enjoy the hand made ice cream of Simple Pleasures located on the bottom floor of the Fabian House.

East on 50. Exit North onto 197, Collington Road at Bowie. Go past the golf course on the left. Turn Left on 564 at the light at the top of the hill. (note: Racetrack Road goes to the right. See map above) *Go through stop sign and turn Left on Chestnut Avenue. The Shops at Fabian House are approximately 50’ on the left. Parking in the rear.


From Baltimore:
South on 97. Exit 3 South at the 3 and 32 interchange. (not Business 3). Turn right onto 450 (Annapolis Rd.) at the three way intersection about 6 miles down 3. Turn Right on Racetrack Road. Go until you get to the light at 197, go straight, then as above.*
