About the Twins:

What can we say about our little venture?  We started out just doing this as a hobby, never really planning on importing pottery.  After just a short time we enjoyed it so much that we decided to make a go of it and make Twin's Polish Pottery officially open for business.  It is so exciting talking with our new friends all over the world and sharing in the beauty of the Polish Pottery together.   Often times, someone will call us as we are unpacking and inspecting our newest deliveries.  That is really exciting!  It is almost like sharing the present opening together.

About the Pottery:  Polish Pottery is the highest quality stoneware fancy goods and table utensils, hand decorated with a punch (stamp) technique, that is characteristic for Boleslawiec's ceramic, hand painted or in-glaze compositions. Typical assortment contains dinner- and coffee-services, cups, kettles, butter dishes, containers, jugs, dishes, bowls, salad bowls and also attractive collection of flower-vases and flower-bowls.  Many of our customers like to mix and match patterns while others only collect two or three patterns.  We love them all so our collection grows much to Jesse and James' dismay.

UNIKAT Pottery:  Twin's Polish Pottery is pleased to announce we are now increasing our line of pottery to include the UNIKAT collection.  Many of the factories have master craftspeople who are so skilled at painting pottery that they offer specialty patterns unique to each painter for that run of pottery.  Each piece is a one of a kind, unique pattern by a particular artist.  Other artists may use a pattern in the future, but the UNIKAT (or unique) collection is so special because of it's original design and quality painting.

UNIKAT is for the truly discriminating collector of art, but is as functional as standard Polish pottery.  We use it for our cereal bowls and mix it with standard pottery for our place settings.  Each peice is a handcrafted work of art by a single artist and defines a European sense of romance.  We encourage you to try a few pieces and experience how wonderful the UNIKAT collection truly is.  You will be surprised at how inexpensive it is!

Pottery History:  Created in the town of Boleslawiec-- Sklep Makaba SC:  The original artistic ceramic creations refer to local traditions of the nineteenth century. The pottery is hand-thrown, under-glaze decorated with stamps and baked at high temperatures (1250 ø Celsius).  It is all completely lead and cadmium-free.  Ceramic articles are usable in dishwashers and both conventional as well as microwave ovens.  Not flameproof.

In the 17th and 18th century, craftsmen applied the decorations using their fingers and frozen potatoes. Today, the pottery is still hand thrown, but the stamps are made of foam or rubber.

There are several factories that we purchase from.  Some include: Zaklady Ceramiczne, Artistic Ceramics of Boleslawiec, Ceramika Artystyczna and several others, all IN Poland.

To avid-shoppers, Poland is primarily known for its pottery.  The original Boleslaweic ceramics, with its famous eye spot decoration and the letter "B" printed on the bottom of each piece, has been produced in Poland since 1830.  Since then, other patterns have developed and special patterns, like those specific to the holidays, are introduced from time to time.  The patterns are designed to complement each other.  Although, the designs vary from the traditional eyespots to stars or to elaborate flowers, the basic colors remain the same.  This allows collectors of the pottery to mix and match patterns.

Polish pottery is world famous, quite historic and is very collectible and functional. It is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. The stoneware is lead and cadmium-free.  Master potters in Boleslawiec, Poland have been making their pottery for over 300 years by hand. Therefore, no two pieces will be exactly alike, although most designs will complement each other.
Whether you collect, or want to use Polish Pottery in your daily life, you will not be disappointed in the quality, styling, beauty or uniqueness!  We obviously love Polish Pottery and hope that you too will find joy in the many years of use you will get from this wonderful product.
